Porque criar um blog?

Porque há coisas que valem a pena partilhar, com todos mas, mais que tudo com amigos e família. Neste inicio ainda em Portugal vão ver coisas que já estão carecas e corcundas de ouvir, mas quando já lá estivermos tenho a certeza que vai saber bem poderem manter contacto através deste tasco. Todos os outros simples curiosos ou interessados na parte da emigração, sejam bem vindos!

Passando ao que interessa:

Quando a Carol encontrou o link da empresa e pediu mais indicações fiquei algo céptico com a ideia. Na altura estava a dias de acabar o curso, mas já andava a fazer entrevistas de emprego. Tinha uma oportunidade de emprego que me agradava bastante mas não consegui ficar com ela quando pensei que tivesse boas hipóteses. Na ressaca desta situação, e mais por impulso do que pensado, resolvi adaptar a carta de motivação que tinha enviado para o programa dos EUA, e mandar para a empresa. Assim. Sem pensar mais sobre o assunto.

 Cerca de duas semanas depois e para minha surpresa recebi um contacto por parte dos recursos humanos, para arranjar uma entrevista por Skype. A candidatura foi tão espontânea que não pensei que fosse seleccionado. Na primeira entrevista, toda em Inglês obviamente, foram me explicadas todas as condições e exigências; pagamentos e regalias, deveres e direitos. No fim da reunião já estava com óptimas opiniões sobre a oportunidade que se abria. Entretanto, em conversa com a Carol, e depois de lhe relatar tudo o que tinha falado na reunião, ela mudou o chip e ficou interessada em ir. Numa altura em que até já tinham terminado as datas para enviar currículos.

Why did we create a blog? 

Because there are things that are worth sharing with everyone but most of all with friends and family. In this beginning of the blog, still in Portugal, our friends and family will maybe see and read things that they are tired of hearing, but at the time that we will be actually there, I'm sure it will be nice to maintain contact with us and our adventures through this place :) (i can assure that the portuguese version is not so "politically correct" but those things get lost in translation lol).

All the others that, we hope, are reading our blog, just for being curious or interested in emigration, welcome! 

Going to the real deal: 

When Carol found the link to the company and asked for more information I was somewhat skeptical about the idea. At the time I was almost finishing the course, but I was also doing job interviews. I had a job opportunity which pleased me a lot but I wasn't allowed to stay there. And I really thought I had a good chance. In the wake of this, and more taken by momentum than by a deep thought, I decided to adapt a motivation letter that I had sent to an USA program, and send it to the company. Like this. Without thinking more about it. 

About two weeks later and, to my surprise, I received a contact from the Human Resources, to arrange an interview via Skype. The application was so spontaneous that I did not think that I could be selected to an interview. In the first interview, all in English of course, it was explained all the conditions and requirements; payments and privileges, duties and rights. After the meeting, I was already with great views on the opportunity that was opened.

In conversation with Carol, and after reporting her everything I had spoken at the meeting, she "turned the chip" and started to be very interested in the idea. In that time, in fact, they had already finished the timeline to send CV and motivational letters.
