Primeiro Domingo do Advento // First Sunday of Advent

O primeiro Domingo do advento. O Advento começa exatamente quatro domingos antes do Natal. Nós não costumamos comemorar a chegada do natal desta forma mas aqui na Noruega é muito popular. Por várias razões e uma delas é que se vêem velas roxas numeradas um pouco por todo o lado, sendo que se deve acender uma vela por cada domingo. Aqui por casa serviu para marcar a data em que liguei as decorações de natal :D. 

Um pouco por acaso, descobri que hoje se comemorava a chegada do advento no centro de Porsgrunn. Percebi que se deve comemorar um pouco por toda a Noruega. 

Descobri por puro acaso já que estávamos na farmácia a fazer contagem de stock (sim, fizemos isso este Domingo uma vez que é impossível fazer como deve de ser noutro dia dado o horário da farmácia; no entanto seremos bem pagas para o efeito) e uma colega minha falou que tinha de se ir embora às 16h para ir acompanhar os netos no "barnatog". Fui com ela claro :D para descobrir o que era! 

No fundo fizeram uma procissão até à Camara Municipal onde acenderam as luzes a um grande pinheiro de natal nórdico. 

Podem até ver num dos videos a contagem dos miúdos para as luzes serem acesas :).

Depois de acenderem as luzes e do discurso do presidente da Camara, uma banda (de miúdos, mais uma vez) tocou 2 músicas onde todos andaram à volta da árvore. Achei no entanto que podia ter durado mais. Cantarem canções e tudo o mais mas não... tipicamente norueguês: cedo, organizado e muito rápido. Quando a "festa" é dada por encerrada acho que não demora nem 15 minutos para desaparecer tudo e nem se perceber a quantidade de pessoas que ali estava há bem pouco tempo. E não me digam que isso é por causa do frio! Já notámos este fenómeno tanto no verão como no inverno. Acho que é cultural... nós ficamos a falar horas a fio, aqui não acontece tal coisa. Ou pelo menos não na rua!

Os miúdos tiveram ainda direito a vários "pais natais" a distribuir saquinhos de doces :D

Cá por casa demos então início ao mês do Natal :) Este ano não vamos uma vez mais a Portugal dado que os feriados não jogavam muito a nosso favor e, vamos então, receber a Carla irmâ do Ricardo, o Pai do Ricardo e a Filipa, a nossa nova vizinha :D.

The first Sunday of Advent. Advent begins four Sundays just before Christmas. We are not used to celebrate the arrival of Christmas in this way but here in Norway is very popular. 

For various reasons and one of them is that you can buy purple candles numbered with 1,2,3,4 everywhere, and one should light a candle for every Sunday. Here in our home, this day marked the date I lighted up Christmas decorations :D.

Somewhat by chance, I discovered that today the Norwegian celebrate the arrival of Advent in the heart of Porsgrunn. I discovered that it is celebrated all over Norway.

I discovered by chance as we were in the pharmacy counting the stock (yes, we did it this Sunday since it is impossible to do another day given the time the pharmacy is open; however we will be paid for this). A colleague of mine said she had to go to 16h to go accompany grandchildren on "barnatog". I wanted to go with her to find out what it was! :)

They made a procession to the Town Hall where they lighted up a large a Christmas tree.

It is even possible to see the countdown in one of the videos :).

After that and after the president of the Chamber's speech, a band (kids again) played two songs where everyone walked around the tree. I found however that it could have lasted longer. Sing songs and everything else for a longer period ... but that is not typically Norwegian: early, very well organized and very fast. When the "party" is given to an end... I think it does not take even 15 minutes to disappear everything and everyone and you can't even realize the amount of people who had been there not so long before. 

And do not tell me that this is because of the cold! We have noted this phenomenon both in summer and in winter. I think it's cultural ... if it was in Portugal we were talking for hours, but here does not happen such a thing. Or at least not on the street!

The kids still had the right to several "Santas" to hand out candy bags :D

Here at home began the month of Christmas :) This year we will not travel to Portugal as the holidays did not play much in our favor and we will then receive Carla, Ricardo's sister, Ricardo's father and Filipa , our new neighbor :D.
