Nós queremos é festa :D!

Esta noite de Sankthans ou São João (conhecida em Portugal pelos festejos no Porto) é muito popular pela Escandinávia. Sei, por uma colega minha que na Suécia e Finlândia os festejos são ainda maiores. No fim de semana antes deste dia, uma colega minha foi passar o fim de semana à Suécia mas com pouco proveito: estava literalmente tudo fechado à excepção do McDonalds e restaurantes deste género. Até o Spa do Hotel estava fechado.

Em relação à Noruega e nomeadamente aqui à nossa cidade, foi uma surpresa. É como eu digo ao Ricardo: não percebo onde se enfiam os noruegueses no dia a dia. É ridículo!! Nos "dias normais" não se vê ninguém. Acho que se enfiam todos na floresta a ir "para os tours". Quando há festas deste género saem todos à rua :) já tive essa mesma impressão no 17 de Maio.

A festa foi mesmo aqui na Bakkestranda a 5 minutos a pé (ou menos) da nossa casa e pagámos cada um 50 NOK de entrada (~6€). Lá dentro era permitido um pouco de tudo: levar comida ou comprar lá, sentar nos bancos disponíveis ou levar as próprias cadeiras ou mantas. Houve música ao vivo e actividades para os miúdos. Tudo para chegar às 21h30 e acender o monte ainda bastante grande de madeira e comemorar assim a maior noite do ano.

Uma grande diferença abismal para Portugal: "cadê" o álcool? Neste tipo de eventos é mais que certo existir à venda, no mínimo, cerveja e vinho. E não acho que seja por isso que se vejam mais bêbados mas pronto.. é assim que as coisas são. Estamos mais habituados ao álcool... aqui quando é para beber já percebi que "se bebe mesmo a sério". O conceito de copo a acompanhar a refeição parece não existir. 

Nós acabamos por encontrar um casal de portugueses que conhecemos cá (que já cá chegaram há mais de 30 anos) e passámos uma boa tarde/noite de convívio. Adoro este tipo de convívios :) não deu para matar a saudade do espíritos dos Santos populares nem do St. António mas também foi bom!

As condições atmosféricas estiveram do nosso lado :), ainda ameaçou chover mas acabou por estar bastante agradável, algum sol e temperatura agradável!

Al we want is to party :D!

This night Sankthans or St. John (known in Portugal by the great festivities in Porto) is very popular in Scandinavia. I know, by a colleague that in Sweden and Finland the festivities are even greater. 

On the weekend before this day, one of my colleagues went to Sweden to spend the weekend there but she didn't know that all things well closed besides McDonalds and restaurants of this genre. Literally. Even the Hotel Spa was closed. Everything was literally closed just because Tuesday was the Sankthans.

Regarding Norway and especially here in our city, it was a surprise. It's like I tell Ricardo almost every day: I do not understand where the Norwegians "are" on a daily basis. It's ridiculous !! In "normal days" you don't see "anyone". I think we will find more Norwegians "in the woods" that in the "so called" usual places for us. But, in this kind of occasions is possible to see that our town is more populated that wit would be possible to guess. I had exactly the same idea since the 17th Mai.

The party was very close home here in Bakkestranda a 5-minute walk (or less) of our house and we paid 50 input NOK (~ € 6). There was possible to find a little bit of everything and almost everything was allowed: bring food or buy there, sit on available seats or take their own chairs or blankets. There was live music and activities for the kids. All to come at 21.30 and light the wood hill so celebrate the biggest night of the year. I have my doubts about this day because isn't 21th of June the longest day? But well..

One big big (enormous) difference if this party was i Portugal: the absence of alcohol. In this kind of events is for sure that you will find at least beer and wine. And it's not because of that, that you are going to see more drunk people. Is just the way it is... we are used to have alcohol "everywhere" :).

We ended up finding a Portuguese couple we have already met here (who has arrived here for over 30 years) and we spent a good afternoon / evening socializing. I love this kind of gatherings :) It was not the same the festivities of "Santos Populares" in Portugal and specially "Santo António" in Lisbon but it was also good!
