O Curso de língua / Norueguês vs Bokmål vs Nynorsk // The language course / Norwegian vs Bokmål vs Nynorsk

Em relação ao curso da língua em si, foi-nos facultado pela empresa o curso Migranorsk no portal CampusOnline.no. É um programa de ensino por e-learning o que permite alguma mobilidade de locais e horas de estudo. Tivemos ainda direito a uma tutor/a 4 horas em períodos de meia hora por cada trimestre.

Nós estamos a aprender Bokmål. Nos primeiros 2 meses digo que sinceramente nem sabia que existia Nynorsk. Só quando comecei a ganhar o gosto pela ideia de saber norueguês é que pesquisei mais percebi que eram duas coisas diferentes. Momento de PA-NI-CO (típico da minha parte admito).

PIOR: a minha tutora explicou-me que “o lado direito do país” ou seja zona de Oslo, etc fala Bokmål. E, pelo que me foi dado a entender, os estudantes estrangeiros de norueguês aprendem quase sempre ou sempre esta “versão da língua” uma vez que traduz-se por “língua dos livros” e é a forma mais antiga do norueguês.

Por outro lado, a zona Oeste (“lado esquerdo”) fala maioritariamente Nynorsk. E lá pelo meio é uma misturada de dialectos, sotaques e coisas que mais: uma confusão.

Foi literalmente um dos motivos de preocupação nos meses seguintes: será que estávamos a esforçarmo-nos para aprender a maneira de falar dos cidadãos de Oslo para depois não percebemos patavina??!

Resumindo: Bokmål e Nynorsk são duas faces da mesma moeda : Norueguês. Posso talvez tentar comparar entre o português de Portugal e o português falado no Brasil.  Não é uma comparação de todo perfeita mas serve para exemplificar. Querem outro “meio” exemplo? O inglês britânico e o inglês americano. Para quem sabe falar bem uma, entende, na maioria das vezes a outra mas para um recém aterrado na questão imaginam a diferença!!

Regarding the language course itself, we were provided by the company with the course Migranorsk in CampusOnline.no portal. It is e-learning program which allows some local and time mobility to study. We had also the right to a tutor  4 hours in periods of half an hour per trimester.

We're learning Bokmål. In the first two months, I honestly have to say that I did not know that Nynorsk existed. Only when I started to like the idea of going til Norway, I have done a "bigger" search about this country and have realized they had two different "languages". Time of PA-NI-C (typical of me, I must admit).

WORST: my tutor told me that "the right side of the country" ie the Oslo area, etc speaks Bokmål. And, as I was given to understand, Norwegian foreign students almost always or always learn this "language version" which is literally translated as "language of books" and is the oldest form of Norwegian.
On the other hand, the West zone ("left") speaks mostly Nynorsk. And in the middle there is a mixed of dialects, accents and more things: a mess.

It was literally one of the concerns in the following months: Were we learning how to talk to the citizens of Oslo and then  we could not understand anything in the city we would live in ??!

In short: Bokmål and Nynorsk are two sides of the same coin: Norwegian. I may try to compare between the Portuguese of Portugal and the Portuguese spoken in Brazil. It is not a comparison at all perfect but serves to exemplify. Want another "medium" example? British English and American English. To the english speakers, that doesn't stop them (most of the times) of understanding but a newly landed and "baby speaker"  imagine the difference !!

 Ora que dizer? 

Tivemos de estudar pois claro. A empresa exigiu-nos 3 meses para cada nível A1, A2 e por fim o B1 (onde ainda nos encontramos até ao inicio de Novembro). 

Deram-nos condições para isso é certo. Vim a saber que a nossa empresa selecionava apenas um pequeno grupo de toda a Europa (não tenho a certeza se de todo o mundo ou só Europa nunca veio ao acaso esclarecer isso) e que nos pagaram 6 meses dos 9 meses exigidos para que nos pudéssemos dedicar a full-time ao estudo da língua. Um mimo portanto J.  Também só assinaríamos contrato após sermos aprovados no nível A1 (ou seja após o primeiro trimestre).

Um mimo extra, que foi uma excelente surpresa, foi ter conhecido a PG uma farmacêutica do Norte de Portugal, a outra única portuguesa do grupo, com quem também tenho compartilhado esta experiência e que já considero amiga apesar de ainda não nos conhecermos ao vivo!! Acho que o nosso tráfico de apontamentos, soluções e tudo o mais é top J 

Um Ponto menos bom da questão: não sabíamos para onde iríamos viver. A única coisa que nos garantiram desde o início era que ficávamos os dois (o Ricardo e eu) na mesma cidade ou, pelo menos, em farmácias a uma distância que desse para vivermos juntos. De resto poderíamos bem ir parar ao “cu da Noruega” – expressão muitoooo carinhosa do meu amigo PB :P

Eu trabalhei apenas até fim de Março uma vez que achei que era injusto para mim e para a entidade empregadora estar a contar comigo quando eu já tinha decidido apostar nesta ideia. Sinceramente não me arrependo do ter feito. A única diferença que sinto é que agora acho que preciso de uma revisão de alguns conceitos, mas nada que não se resolva!!

We had to study of course. The company required us three months for each level A1, A2 and B1 by the end (where we are still on until the beginning of November).

They gave us conditions for that, it's right. I came to know that our company selected only a small group from all over Europe (I'm not sure if the group was selected from the entire world or only Europe but it never came by chance to clarify that) and they paid us 6 months out of 9 months. That enabled us to devote full-time to the study of language. We would also signed the contract only after being approved level A1 (ie after the first three months). 

An extra treat :), it was a great surprise, To have known PG, a pharmacist from the North of Portugal, the only Portuguese of the group with whom I have also shared this experience and  that already consider friend despite haven't known her live yet!! I think our changing notes, solutions and everything else is top :D 

One not so good point of the question: we did not know where we would live. The only thing that the company assured us from the beginning was that we would both work (Ricardo and I) in the same city or at least in pharmacies at a distance that it would be possible to live together. Otherwise we could well end up in the "ass of Norway" - expression reallyyyyyyy sweet from my friend PB: P 


I worked only until the end of March since I thought it was unfair to me and to the employer to be counting with me when I had already decided to invest in this idea. Honestly I do not regret having done that attitude. The only difference I feel now is that I think I need to review some pharmacies' concepts, but nothing that is not easily solved !!
